£39.00

EUROPEAN FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP '96 "Germany vs England 1899" Royal Mint Issue Silver Medal.

The origins and development of football are most strongly identified with Britain. In the 1899, the first official English touring team visited Berlin' Prague and Karlsruhe, establishing a landmark in international football. They won all four games, scoring 38 goals and conceding only four. From this, a footballing rivalry has grown between the two countries that continues even now. Germany is possibly Europe's most successful footballing nation, with three World Cup victory and two European Championships. Although England has not had equal success, it has a good home record against continental opposition.
