EUROPEAN FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP '96 "European Champions - Italy 1968 " Royal Mint Issue Silver Medal.

In Italy in 1968, the European Championship was held for the first time instead of the :European Nations' Cup". The number of countries participating had increased and the teams reaching the final round for places 1 to 4 were no longer determined in a K.O. system, but had to qualify in groups. In the end there was a clear winner: Italy, with five fresh players in the team, won 2 :0, thus winning the title of European Champions in their own country.
