United Kingdom, One Pound coin for 1991. Silver Proof 'Standard' Boxed with Royal Mint Certificate FDC. The coin represent Northern Ireland and features on its reverse a Flax plant encircled by the Royal Diadem. Previously appearing on the £1 coins of 1986, the design is the work of the renowned silversmith Leslie Durbin. The obverse carries Raphael Maklouf's elegant portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Latin abbreviations of the surrounding Royal Style and Titles standing for 'by the Grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith'. The edge of the coin bears the Latin inscription DECUS ET TUTAMEN, which translates as 'an ornament and a safeguard'.
