1989 UK, One Pound 'PIEDFORT' Silver Proof, issued by the Royal Mint Boxed with Certificate FDC. The coin features on its reverse the floral emblem of Scotland, the thistle, as first used on the 1984 pound coin. The work of the renowned silversmith Leslie Durbin, the design shows the Scottish thistle encircled by the Royal Diadem. The Latin motto of the Order of the Thistle, NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT ('No one provokes me with impunity') appears on the edge of the coin. The obverse features Raphael Maklouf's elegant portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
