The main feature of this set is the "A VOYAGE OF DISCOVERY" Silver Dollar. It is often said that the future lies in space. Poised on the Launchpad to the next millennium, Canada's voyage of discovery promises to be one of energy, ability, and achievement. The vast, final frontier is a prospect that is embraced by Canadians and celebrated on the reverse of the coin by artist Donald F. Warkentin. The design features a "crown" of lunar phases; a human figure outstretched toward the solar system; a stylized space shuttle and its boosters; solar panels reflecting the Earth's atmosphere; and robotic arms. Combined, these elements form a stylized maple leaf. The triangular shapes at its base symbolize the power of launch. The obverse of the coin features the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Dora de Pedery-Hunt. 70870
