Canada, 1908-1998 silver (5) Coin Set in Sterling silver to commemorate the 90th Anniversary of The royal Canadian Mint

£69.00

This set struck to commemorate the opening of the Mint on January 1908, are all minted in Sterling Silver with the original 1908 designs with an ANTIQUE FINISH, including the 1 cent Copper-plated on .925 silver.

Struck to commemorate the opening of the mint on January 2, 1908, the specimen sets were the first numismatic products to be offered by the Royal Mint, Ottawa. They were presented in a handsome red leather box stamped with the words in gold lettering: "FIRST COINAGE IN CANADA/1908/ROYAL MINT OTTAWA". In 1998, to commemorate the ninetieth anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mint, the Mint's master engravers have reproduced the original 1908 designs with an antique finish. The obverse of each coin bears the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by artist Dora de Pedery-Hunt. Grade: as issued by the Canadian Mint with Certificate of Authenticity.
