To mark the 50th anniversary of the Battle for Guadalcanal, the Central Bank of Solomon Islands has authorised the Royal Mint to strike this silver Proof $1.
The reverse design by Dutch sculptor and medallist Willem VIs, shows American Forces landing at Guadalcanal on August 1942 under the Leadership of General Vandegrift.
The obverse bears the elegant portrait of Queen Elizabeth II 1952-2002
