Commemorating the "470th anniversary of the Discovery of Australia 1522-1525. Minted in (.925) silver, weight: 26.5 grams, diameter: 36 mm, KM# 684a. Obverse: Shield of Portugal and globe, or armillary spere, date, value and name of the country below. Reverse: 3 ships, caravels, sailing left over a way and a silhouette of Australia. The date refer to the controversy discovery and reconnaissance of Australia by a Portuguese sailor Cristovao de Mendonca long before the Dutch Janszoon in 1606.
