Johannes Vermeer was born in Delft on 30.10.1632, and died in 1675. Art historians commonly refer to him by reference to his home town as Vermeer van Delft. Together with Franz Hals and Rembrandt, Vermeer completes the trio of "Golden Age" of Dutch painting. His best-known works include "The Lace-maker", "View of Delft, and "Girl with a Wineglass".
