Netherlands, 1995 Official 25 ECUs Commemorative "Queen Wilhelmina" Silver Proof.
The Netherlands have dedicated this important ECU issue to their popular Queen Wilhelmina. She was born in The Hague in 1880, as the only daughter of King William III from the House of Orange-Nassau. In the 50 years of the rule of this popular monarch, state in stitutions were democratised. After the occupation of the Netherlands in the Second World War, the Queen went to Great Britain in 1940 and formed the intellectual centre of the Dutch resistance movement there, returning to the Netherlands in 1945. Until her death in 1962.
