To celebrate the 10th anniversary of its foundation the Bank commissioned the Royal Mint to strike this crown size coin in sterling silver with a face value of 10 Kwacha. The obverse of the coin is similar to that of the 10 Kwacha piece issued in 1974 to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of Independence. It features a portrait of His Excellency The Life President; the reverse bears the crest of the reserve Bank of Malawi - a fish eagle against the rising sun, This new reverse design is the work of Mr Michael Rizzello.
