The Airbus A400M is a four-engined turboprop military transport and tanker, designed to replace the C-130 Hercules and C-160 Train-sail transport/tanker. In 2003 eight countries, including the UK, signed and agreement to buy 212 aircraft. Vickers Valentias first entered RAF service in 1934 as troop transports with No. 70 Squadron in the Middle East. In the early stages of WWII, the Valentia was widely used as a night bomber in North Africa. Unfortunately, its top speed of 120 mph meant the much faster enemy fighters would often overshoot it!
