Specification: Issue in 1974 by John Pinches Medalists, contains almost one ounce of 0.925 Sterling Silver Proof, with a diameter of 39 mm, and in pristine condition.
The obverse of the medal bears a portrait of Robert the Bruce. Crowned King of Scotland in 1306, Bruce fought through much of his reign to secure Scottish independence. He triumphed at Bannockburn in 1314. after which no English King successfully invaded Scotland. Today one of Scotland's most popular heroes, he is buried at Dunfermline Abbey, though his heart was carried to the Holy Land.
