Specification: Issue in 1974 by John Pinches Medalists, contains almost one ounce of 0.925 Sterling Silver Proof, with a diameter of 39 mm, and in pristine condition.
The obverse of the medal bears a portrait of Owen Glendower. The last independent prince of Wales, he began fighting the English in 1400. His rebellion spread through Wales, and later he joined forces with Sir Edmund Mortimer and the Percys against Henry IV. Victories at Aberystwyth and Harlech gave him control of most of wales. Although reverses began in 1405 and Aberystwyth and Harlech were lost in 1408. Glendower was still active in 1412. He lives on today as a national hero in Wales.
