Specification: Issue in 1974 by John Pinches Medalists, contains almost one ounce of 0.925 Sterling Silver Proof, with a diameter of 39 mm, and in pristine condition.
The obverse of the medal bears a portrait of Edward The Black Prince. The son of Edward III, he became famous as a commander in the Hundred Years' War. At the battle of Crecy he won his spurs and well-known ostrich plumes, but his triumph was at Poitiers in 1356, when the French king was captured. Edward later ruled as prince of Aquitaine, He was one of the original Knights of the Garter. The died in the year 1376, before he could accede to the throne.
