Queen Mother will be ninety years old.
The mother was of the ruling Queen of England was born as Lady Elizabeth Angela Marguerete Bowes-Lyon. She came from an old Scottish noble family. On April 26, 1923 she married the "Duke of York", a son of King George V, in West minster Abbey. He ruled over the British Empire from 1936 onwards, after his brother, Edward VIII, had renounced the throne. Elizabeth actively supported her husband in his political work. As George VI. had never really aspired this exalted position, he readily accepted her assistance. Thanks to her knowledge she was able to support also her daughter in an advisory capacity, and she has often represented her in public.
