£7.50

The Azores are a group of nine islands in the Atlantic Ocean, over 1,000 miles west of Lisbon. They were discovered by Diogo de Sevilla in 1427—31, and later became a province of Portugal.
To celebrate this the Portuguese Post Office have issued this Philatelic Numismatic Coin Cover. The cover features a 55 escudos stamp which was issued in 1988 bearing the Azores coat of arms. The Copper—nickel coin has the same design as the stamp and both were designed by Isabel Carrico and Fernando Branco
