Decimalisation Day and Beyond
Early in 1971 Britain's monetary system saw its biggest change for more than 1000 years; one that affected the day-to-day lives of every British citizen.
On Monday February 15, Britain went decimal.
To cope with the production requirements in the run up to decimalisation, the Royal Mint relocate to new site in Llantrisant, south Wales, opened by Her Majesty the Queen.
