Cook Islands, 10 Dollars 1978 Silver Proof Boxed & Certificate FDC. Issued to commemorate the Silver Anniversary of the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Minted in solid sterling silver with full Proof finish, it portrays two of the world-famous "Queen's Beasts," sculptured at the time of Her Majesty's Coronation to symbolize the proud legacy of her royal heritage. To the left is the white lion. This emblem was originally adopted by the Mortimer's, Earls of March, and was introduced as a royal symbol during the reign of Edward I. The Yale, heraldic symbol of Henry VII, is depicted to the right of the coin's design. This mystic animal has been portrayed in many variations over the centuries. Between the white lion and the Yale is a heraldic crown. The coin also bears the special inscription, CORONATION JUBILEE 1953-1978. On the obverse of the coin is the superb coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II created by the renowned British sculptor Arnold Machin - a work of art that is known and admired throughout the world.
