New Zealand, Dollar 1983 Silver Proof FDC. The 1983 New Zealand annual collectors' coin issue commemorates the Fiftieth Anniversary of the nation's own distinctive Coinage 1933-1983. Struck by the Royal Mint, U.K. Minted: in Sterling Silver (0.925) Weight: 27.216 gm. Diameter: 38.735 mm. The obverse bears the Arnold Machin effigy of Her Majesty The Queen, with the inscription "Elizabeth!! New Zealand 1983" around the periphery. The reverse design, by Philip Nathan, F.R.S.B.S., of England, depicts the "fiftieth anniversary of coinage" theme. New Zealand's Coat of Arms, and the words "one dollar” occupies the centre of the design. The inscription "1933 New Zealand Coinage 1983" extends around the top half of the coin whilst around the lower half a feature is made of the reverse designs of five pre-decimal and four decimal New Zealand coins.
