An unofficial trade dollar, the final date of the famous Maria Theresa Thaler has been restrikes intermittently since 1781 to modern times at many world mints. it has been used i many areas that lacked a firm local coinage, particularly in the north and east Africa and the Near East Gunzburg Mint was where the original Thaler were struck. An estimated 800 million struck to date.
