£18.00

TELSTRA STADIUM VENUE FOR THE RUGBY WORLD CUP 2003 FINAL To commemorate Rugby World Cup 2003 the Royal Australian Mint produced this $5 coin portraying a rugby player taking a kick at goal. It was at the 1985 meeting that the International Rugby Board (IRB) approved for the inaugural Rugby World Cup to be jointly staged in Australia and New Zealand from the 22 May to 20 June 1987. The tournament was pronounced a success and the IRB decided to hold the tournament every four years. Subsequent tournaments were held in the UK and France in 1991, South Africa in 1995 and in Wales in 1999. Rugby World Cup 1999 was broadcast to over 150 countries reaching a cumulative audience of over 3 billion people. Australia is the sole host in 2003, with the final being played here for the first time.
