Silver Proof in Capsule from the Masterpieces in Silver - Colonial Australia Coin of Five Australian Dollars. Obverse: bepicts Queen Elizabeth II. Reverse: Head of Col. Light at lower right half city plan at left. Col. Wight a distinguished Soldier, Sailor, Linguist, Musician and Painter Colonel William Light (1786-1839) the first surveyor-general of South Australia. Light commanded the brig 'Rapid' for its voyage to the new Colony. Reaching Kangaroo Island on 19 August 1836, Light immediately began to search for the most appropriate site for the colony's capita. He had been given sole responsibility for choosing its location.
