Australia's 1990 'The Holey Dollar & The Dump' Silver Proof, some damage to packaging aFDC

£59.00

THE 1990 HOLEY DOLLAR & DUMP THE DESIGNS ON THE reverse side of the 1990 Holey Dollar and Dump coins have been created by Stuart Devlin AO, who used traditional Aboriginal paintings as his source. The design on the 1990 Holey Dollar depicts human figures hunting barramundi and garfish. It is taken from a painting by Aboriginal artist Dick Nguieingulei Murumuru, Gunwinggu language. The 1990 DUMP features three dancing Mimi women. This design was drawn from a bark painting by Naderadji Goymala, also of the Gunwinggu language, from Oenpelli in Australia's north west. The stick-like characters are typical of the Mimi art of western Arnhem Land.
