'KING JAMES BIBLE' A Brief History.
The King James Bible is arguably the most influential book ever published in the English language. This is perhaps all the more remarkable in that it was the tenth complete translation of the Old and New Testaments made by English scholars, and the ninth within a hundred years. For the first thousand years of Christianity in England, all but a few dissidents (who produced an English Bible in the 1380s) were satisfied with the Latin text of St Jerome, used by the whole medieval Catholic Church.
