Australian, 2002 Lunar Silver Coin Series 'Year of the Horse' Gilded Edition, Boxed with Cerificate FDC

£160.00

Australian Lunar Silver Coin Series 'Year of The Horse', is struck from ounce of 99.9% pure silver specimen quality, with selective 24-carat gilding on the reverse. The design is inspired by the ancient Chinese Lunar Calendar, which assigns one of 12 animals to each year. The Chinese believe that these animals have a profound effect on people born under their influence. Thus, those people born in the Year of the Horse are cheerful, skilful and perceptive. They are also said to be popular, confident and intelligent. The coin's reverse depicts a galloping horse, which has been gilded in 24-carat gold. The design includes the year-date, the Chinese character for 'horse', abd a border of five bats among the clouds, symbolising health, peace and prosperity. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination are shown on the reverse.
