In December 1955 Jordan became a member of the United Nations and now celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the UN with a superb Brilliant Uncirculated 5 Dinars which, as were the first coins of the new kingdom, has been struck at the British Royal Mint.

The obverse bears a magnificent portrait of Jordan's reigning monarch king Hussein who, at seventeen years old, was proclaimed king in 1952. The commemorative reverse design, provided by the Central Bank of Jordan, bears the UN50 emblem along with a spray of the beautiful black iris, Jordan's national flower.
