In 1982 the 20p coin was introduced, 1983 saw the first £1 coin, 1990 was the year in which the size of the 5p coin was reduced and, in 1992, the 10p also became smaller. In 1989 £2 coins were struck to mark the tercentenary of both the Bill of Rights and Claim of Rights in Scotland, and in 1992 the 50p bore a special 'European' design.
