To honour the Queen's seventieth birthday the States Treasury of Guernsey have issued a commemorative £1 coin. The reverse design by Norman Sillman shows a portrait of the Queen during her visit to Guernsey in 1989, with Castle Cornet and the crest of the Bailiwick of Guernsey in the background. Castle Cornet overlooks the harbour and town St. Peter Port. The obverse features Raphael Maklouf's elegant portrait of the Queen.
