This commemorative coin has been struck in cupro-nickel in Brilliant Uncirculated quality. It measures 38.61mm in diameter, weighs 28.28g and has been specially selected. The obverse design features the Raphael Maklouf portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as now used on all Guernsey's circulating coinage, together with the Crest taken from the Seal of the Bailiwick granted in 1279 by Edward I. The date, 1989 also appears on the obverse. The reverse, by Royal Mint engraver Robert Elderton, shows a head and shoulders portrait of Henry I, King of England. The portrait is surrounded by the inscription HENRY I 1100-1135 TWO POUNDS.
