1985 United Kingdom Brilliant Uncirculated Coin Collection, issued by the Royal Mint containing (8) coins Pound to Penny. The coins in this collection are the first to bear the new effigy of H.M Queen Elizabeth II, by the sculptor Raphael Maklouf, FRSA. The one pound coin, the second in a series of four, features the national Emblem of Wales - the leek. The proclamation describes the reverse design as 'a Leek eradicated enfiling a representation of Our Royal Diadem'. The Welsh edge inscription PLEIDIOL WYFI’MGWLAD means 'True am I to my country'. The one pound coin was designed by Leslie Durbin. The twenty pence coin was designed by William Gardner and the 50, 10, 5, 2 and 1 penny coins are the work of Christopher Ironside.
