BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED BILL OF RIGHTS £2 COIN - PHILATELIC NUMISMATIC COVER
In 1689, Prince William and Mary accepted the Declaration of Rights prior to being offered the throne, which effectively shifted the balance of power from the Crown to Parliament and changed the course of British political history.
To celebrate the 300th anniversary of this historic event, a special commemorative £2 coin has been issued.
The reverse design of the Bill of Rights £2 coin, by John Lobban, depicts the cypher of William and Mary, the House of Commons mace, St Edward's Crown and a surrounding inscription. The obverse features Raphael Maklouf's portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The first day cover also hosts a stamp released by the Royal Mail to mark the tercentenary of the Bill of Rights. The postmark carries a date stamp showing the 14 February 1989.
The PNC cover is jointly issued by the Royal Mail and the Royal Mint.
